Its a cereal showdown, and the winner is...Lets first look at the labels and remember, always look per 100g so you can compare products accurately (serving sizes on products can be different so can't be used to compare products)
As you can see there isn't a huge difference between the two products and either would be a good breakfast choice that will help replenish glycogen stores which have been depleted during the overnight fast. Refuelling these glycogen stores with either of these good sources of carbohydrate helps fire up the brain for a productive morning and helps kids maintain concentration. Both of these products contain a good level of protein and fibre which helps to keep you feeling full for longer. The VitaBrits definitely win out in this category with almost twice the fibre - we can look to the ingredients list to find out where the difference here comes from. Choosing Wholegrain products is preferable where possible. Unfortunately VitaBrits do contain a high amount of salt, so puffed wheat is the preferable choice for this one. FYI - Weetbix contain 290mg of Sodium per 100g, but are higher in sugar, containing 3.3g per 100g. As you can see there isn't necessarily a clear cut winner, both products have positives and either would be a suitable breakfast. I actually purchased the Puffed Wheat as it is one of my favourite ingredients to use in homemade Muesli Bars
